Let's hop out of the tropics to the American Southwest for a bit.
Las Vegas is the largest city in Nevada, United States, and a major tourist, shopping, vacation and gambling destination. In the 2000 census, the city reported a population of 478,000. The Census Bureau's official population estimate as of 2003 was 518,000. The metropolitan area of Las Vegas boasts a population of 1.6 million people.
